What is the relationship between Mopar and Jeep?is Jeep Cherokee Chief 1977 a member of Mopar?

what is Mopar exactly?what is the story of Mopar???is Jeep Cherokee Chief 1977 considered as a member of Mopar?|||Even though a 1977 Jeep was built before Chrysler bought AMC/Jeep because Chrysler now owns them all Jeeps, regardless of year, are considered part of the Mopar family. Even 1940's Willys Jeeps and 1960's Kaiser Jeeps fall under the Mopar banner now since Chrysler owns the rights to anything Jeep related. Go to any Mopar car show and you will see a lot of Jeeps, many of which were built before 1990.

As far as the meaning of Mopar, it was originally MoPar (upper cased "P"). Short for Motor Parts. It was the parts division of Chrysler (Dodge, Plymouth, and Chrysler line of cars). Since then it has become a generic term to identify a vehicle that is a member of the Chrysler family of vehicles.|||Chrysler bought Jeep around 1990. Mopar is part of the Chrysler brand of parts. A 1977 Jeep would be an AMC not a Mopar.
