Does a new carberator make a 318 Mopar faster?

And if so what CMF should a get? This engine is also made around 1987.|||is it a 2 barrel or 4 barrel intake on it,we need to know that ,the most a stock 318 can handle is about a 650 cfm, anything bigger than that and it will just flood out,a 600 works better than a 650 does because it mixes the fuel air ratio a lot better, good luck|||A carburetor by itself does not necessarily mean you will make more power. A larger carburetor in conjunction with better flowing heads, a higher lift cam, and higher compression pistons will keep the motor from have a weak link in fuel delivery. However, if you have a carburetor that flows 850 cfm and you engine volumetrically can not flow that amount then it is just a waste of money.|||it can, your factory one is prolly around 600 cfm, switching to a 850 or higher will make a vast jump
