How do you break in a camshaft for a smallblock mopar?

how long do you let it run ,what rpm? any special install tricks?|||Just like you would break in any camshaft. Follow the instructions included, as they are made by guys who get paid lots of money to figure stuff like that out.

That said, Make sure you use plenty of asembly lube, and make sure the valvetrain is adjusted. Start the motor and make sure the oil Pressure comes up to speed... probably wouldnt be a bad idea to pressurize the oilsystem before start up. Once the oil pressue is up, go for a drive, and do your best to not stay at a constant speed. Accelerate and decelerate. DONT RACE THE MOTOR!!!! Go for 10-20 Miles, then get back and adjust your valvetrain.

This is for a flat tappet cam. If you have roller lifters, then almost not breakin is required.|||if it is a roller you don't need to do a break in. if it is not you should use a good 30w oil. start the engine and bing the rpm up to about 1500 and run it there for a few minutes then from there just vary the rpm from anything but idle. this will keep good oil supply to the cam till it seats in the lifters and doesn't wear through the hardening coat on the cam journals. also make sure to use a good assy. lube when installing it. no white lubriplate after the 30 min break in change the oil to what you use normaly
