is there a kit or a magazine articale with this type of swap? the truck now has a 318 and would like to swap out for a 383/440. is there a wiring kit to go along with that? transmision and drive axles info would be great.Can a mopar 383/440 be put into a 2001 dodge ram 1500 4X4?
actually to do this you would be going backwards but yes it can be done,the engine swap though would require you to also do away with the present computer system because the 383 or the 440 neither one supports the use of any of the sensors that are needed for the newer model trucks or cars,and it would also require the use of an older model transmission and transfer case,a friend of mine is running a 440 in a off road vehicle an he did away with all the computer stuff,and wiring and went back to the basics on his truck,you cant do it using the existing computer though,some of the wiring can be used though,you don't have to buy a harness for it,you,ll just be doing away with a lot of unneeded wires,there's really no articles i know of that support this idea though,but its a do it your self project,there are kits to install the engine with though through this site,good luck,http://www.engine-swaps.com/Can a mopar 383/440 be put into a 2001 dodge ram 1500 4X4?
